F.A.Q.
Here are some common questions about walkandmeditate.com retreats

General questions

What types of people join the retreat?
We have people joining us from all over the world – from the UK and many other European countries, the US and Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia to name a few. We welcome solo travelers – on average about half of the people on our retreats come on their own and we predominantly have more female than male. We also have couples, friends, sisters – everyone is welcome. We’ll plan group dinners and day trips for those who want to join, but also respect people’s space if you need some alone-time, it’s all part of the holiday.
Can I bring a friend/partner who doesn't want to participate in the meditation classes?

Absolutely! Non-participants are always welcome. All classes and activities are voluntary and there is always plenty of activities (or total relaxation) that can be enjoyed in place of one of the meditation classes.
We can help guests not participating in the organised activities with optional excursions or activities (e.g. golf), at their own expense.

How many people come on your holidays?
We limit our groups to a maximum of 8 guests, thus ensuring small group personal attention from our team.
I have never done anything like this, is it for me?

90% of our clients are new to most, if not all, of what we do and no one has ever walked away unhappy or dissatisfied. We offer a high degree of integrity, physical safety and emotional support which is appreciated by all who stay with us. Again and again, unsure moments are replaced by realizations of just how simple the techniques we use are.
As for whether it is exactly what you want to do, you are a better judge of that. Let us know what you are expecting, wanting and needing from us, and we will do our best to bring clarity to your decision.

Are your meditation retreat suitable for beginners?

We believe that meditation can be enjoyed by everyone so our retreats are suitable for all ages, men and women and all levels of experience, from complete beginners to advanced students.
We’ve had mostly meditation beginners come to the retreats, and many who found a new love (or renewed love) of the practice.
Every day you will be introduced to different meditation practices. Classes are tailored for all levels, including complete beginners and those with an already-established practice.

I am quite an experienced meditator, would I enjoy your retreat?

In a word yes! All our retreats and holidays are suitable for those who have done little or lots of meditation.
Walkandmeditate.com will give you the space for practicing in a small group, learning new techniques and relaxing with others activities such as walking and wellness times.
You will be back home completely relaxed, freshed and rejuvenated.

What types of meditation do you do?

We use and teach you a number of different methods, from mindfulness to focusing on the breath. You will learn and experience different types of meditation and will be able to develop a practice for everyday life which is really fitting to you. Please be assured that meditation should be enjoyable – we don’t get you sitting in painful crossed-leg position for hours at a time!

I am not a very sporty person, is that a problem for the hikes?

Absolutely not! The walks are classified as easy or moderate, suitable for most people who are reasonably active and we are using cable car and chairlift for the most difficult parts.

I just want some peace and quiet, do I have to do the activities?
That’s completely fine. All classes and activities are optional. Do as much or as little as you choose. However, to get the most out of your retreat, we would encourage you to participate in as much of the program as you can. The activities have been designed to support the retreat of your choice but it is your retreat, so it is entirely your choice.
